Engelbert Peña

Engelbert Peña was born in Acarigua, Venezuela, March 4th 1972. From an early age Peña manifested his interest on the plastic arts. A self-taught artist, Peña deals with popular and religious subjects in his art work. Peña works mainly in painting and defines his work as "Pop Art- Artista Popular." Peña´s work has been recognized among others, by the Salon Julio T. Arze, which awarded him in to occasions: El Gran Premio (the great prize) in 1997, and The First Prize in the year 2000 and in 2006 the Medal of Honor al Mérito, granted by the Mayorship of the Araure Municipality.
