Tulio Díaz

Tulio Díaz was born in Caracas, Venezuela, the 27th of May 1958. Diaz made his high school and ceramic studies in Acarigua, posteriorly he estudied art in the Instituto Federico Brand in the city of Caracas.

Diaz's work has been shown in galleries and museums since 1989. Some of his individual shows are: Madera (Wood), 1994, Universidad Nacional Abierta, Acarigua; Trance (Trance), 1996 Galería Cesar Sasson, Caracas; Percepciones Expresionistas (Expressionist Perceptions), 1997, Museo Sacro, Caracas. Diaz was invited to particupate in the III Salón de Artes Visuales Christián Dior, Sala Consolidado in 1991, also to the Salón Arturo Michelena, Valencia, 1996, and the Salón Municipal de Caracas Juan Lovera in 1997. In 1991, Diaz was part of the installations at the Galería de Arte Nacional de Caracas, with artist Ani Villanueva, in a Body Art Performance title Salamandra.

Diaz has been awarded the following prizes: 1987, First Prize, Salón Rafael Ramón González, 1989 First Prize, Salón Nacional Fedecamaras, Second Prize, Salón Municipal de Caracas Juan Lovera.

The work of Tulio Diaz is represented in various national and international art collections, such as the Patty Phelts Collection, New York, and the permanent collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, among others.
